two down

I am two books down! Well… not as such. Three and a bit. But this is my first retrospective of a potential several, and I wanted to use each little connected series of books in the Discworld setting as milestones. Might end up breaking the longer ones into smaller milestones, but it is what it is.

Reading has been incredibly therapeutic, and for Going Postal it was very nostalgic. I haven’t had this kind of motivation to read in years! In fact, I did the math, and I’ve read more since the beginning of 2026 than I have for the entire sum of many previous years combined. Not just in terms of raw number of books, you can see that plain as day on the bookshelf page. Not exactly the most advanced math to figure that out. But also in terms of pages, real volume of literature.

You could read a dozen short stories and record each and every title and still read less than one truly chunky novel. The Discworld books are varying in size, but they generally hover around three or four hundred pages, and I’ve still been going through them extremely quickly.

That being said, I think I’m going to try to take it a little bit slower. Reading quickly is fun! Reading quickly is good! Reading quickly is liable to get me through all of Discworld before summer. I would prefer to savor these books a little bit more. So for the sake of having books to read come June, I am going to try to finish books a little slower than one every few days.

I am fully aware that there probably isn’t anyone reading these blogs, by the by. I don’t mind that. This is more of a publicly-visible journal than anything else for me.
